What to expect from your Bowen Treatment

  • What to Wear

Please wear loose, comfortable clothing. Tight fitting / lycra or thick layers & large seams in some clothing may make it difficult to provide effective treatment.

  • First Visit

A short questionnaire, outlining any past or current medical problems you may have, this may include any current medications you may be prescribed. All information is treated with strict confidentiality.

  • All Visits

Assessment of any pain or difficulty with movement.

Treatments are tailored to each client. Bowen uses a technique which is a type of physical manipulation. There are occasionally some wait periods during the treatment of 2-5 mins, to allow the body to respond. Each person may react differently. Some people feel relaxed, whilst others may feel sore, stiff or discomfort. This can take a few days to settle.

Gentle exercises may be recommended to complement your treatment.

  • General Advice Post Treatment

Bowen can take a few days or even longer to take full effect.

It is recommended that treatments are at least 5-7 days apart to allow for this. However if you have an acute injury during that time, it is safe to repeat a treatment sooner.

Pain medications can be continued as required. Please do not suddenly cease any medications prescribed by your doctor without consultation.

Avoid hot/cold packs after your Bowen treatment.

Drink plenty of water - this can be warm or cold & flavoured to your taste.

Movement - Please try to gently move/ stretch after your Bowen treatment & avoid sitting or lack of movement for long periods.
